I love this place. I usually order a large Bun Bo Hue, not spice, and with NO noodles every single time and the waiters always give me a weird look and then a big smile followed by the equivalent of .. Really?? Yes, really! The serving size is generous. The broth and all the different meats, pig blood, pig knuckles, and handmade hue sausage are very good here. Perfectly cook with just enough chew to be satisfying. I've had the other items on the menu too like the chicken rice and the various rice cakes and all were satisfactory. The avocado smoothie is delicious if you are in the mood. Parking is plentiful in this huge plaza and sometimes you have to just walk a bit, but that is ok.
I love how diverse their menu is! Was craving banh it ram and banh nam, which is hard to find unless you're in OC or Houston. I love their BBH, Mi Quang, banh nam, and banh bot loc. Very authentic and well balanced in flavors. Their banh cuon was too dry (filling easily fell out) and their banh it ram was too big and crispy, which made it hard to enjoy unless you cut it much smaller (they do provide scissors). This is their newer location, so it was very clean and spacious. Servers were attentive and even gave us extra broth without us even asking. I always make a trip out here to enjoy a nice Vietnamese meal when I'm in Cali.
The bun bo hue was okay and could use some more spice to it. Doesn't stand out that much. The bun rieu was delicious and I would get again. The tofu and tomatoes soak up the broth and explode with tons of flavor. The presentation of the banh bot loc was nice. It had a good amount of shrimp filling and the dough was chewy. The fish sauce paired well with it and brings it to another level. Some people who try it for the first time may not like the texture though. Service was good for dinner time.
Ngu Binh is my go to place for Bun Bo Hue. They also have a great selection of dishes from Central Vietnam so honestly anything you order from their restaurant will be a home run. I like this location the most because there's more parking options. Even though it can get super hectic during lunch times I'm usually able to find parking. During their busiest times when all the tables are full the max I've waited is 10 minutes. I LOVE the Bun bo hue here. They have a regular and large size as well as a spicy and non-spicy option. I usually get the large, spicy version but beware because depending on how they feel that day it could either be really spicy or the perfect amount. They also pack the bowl with noodles and meat so I always have to get a togo. The broth always hits the spot where you can taste all the spices and the lemon grass, it really warms the tummy. The noodles are always the perfect texture of still got some bounce without being mushy. The meat is delicious/tender and their cha hue is definitely homemade. I also love how they give SO MANY banana flowers and bean sprouts because I pack that into my bowl. Overall you cannot go wrong with Ngu Binh at all if you want a homey meal that hits the spot everytime!!
Ngu Binh used to be my absolute favorite for years for bbh. I like this location a lot. It's their newer, second location. I stopped going to NB because the msg was too much and I could hardly function after a bowl. But now, I'm happy to say, the broth for bbh is definitely cleaner and still delicious as ever. Not for the faint of heart their spicy bbh when ordered without the pork blood and feet, comes with a ton of delicious, tender meat. The order also comes with a generous helping of veggies including my favorite, the banana leaves! Yum! The two item combo pictured here are my favorites since I have braces, the banh beo and nam are easy to eat, it comes with a side of fish sauce with jalepenos. Open concept restaurant with a clean interior and high ceilings, also outdoor seating available if you have pups or wanna enjoy the beautiful sunshine here in SoCal. I just love this place!
Solid Bun Rieu 4/5 Definitely this place is better than other location on magnolia as they off bun rieu here! Very accommodating as being supplied with jarred water. Be wary of sticky floors. Was very full at end of meal as plenty protein provided and noodles cooked perfectly. Dipping sauce of mam Tom appears rendered.
Visited Ngu Binh Restaurant for the first time a few days ago. It's located in a plaza with many other eateries. The parking is a bit tight but there are plenty of parking spaces. We ordered the Bun Bo Hue and Bun Rieu. The broth for both dishes is very flavorful and perfectly seasoned and they had a generous amount of meat. Love the variety of veggies they provide to add to the dishes. Will definitely be coming back.
I tried combo #3 to try out the banh bot loc, banh beo, and banh nam. My favorite was the banh bot loc. The tapioca is not too thick and the filling is very flavorful. The banh beo is good too, but I wish it was a little softer. The banh nam was too thick and reminded me of banh gio... I also ordered the mi quang. This was good, but I've had better. I like when the broth has more of a pork flavor, and it was a little on the salty side. The soda chanh muoi is also really good. There's plenty of seating and parking, and the service is quick.
